Scotmid Opens New Stenhousemuir Store
Scotmid, the largest independent co-operative in Scotland, opened a brand new store in Stenhousemuir today (20 May).
The 1000 sq ft store was previously a Key store.
Colin McLean, Scotmid Chief Operating Officer, said: "Scotmid is delighted to be opening a new branch in the heart of the Stenhousemuir community. This is our second new store opening of 2009 and is part of a strategy for growth which will see us opening a number of new stores across Scotland this year."
Donna Mackay, Store Manager, said: "Scotmid prides itself on being a responsible retailer and a vital part of the local community. We look forward to serving Stenhousemuir residents with our excellent product range and some great deals."
Scotmid is currently celebrating its 150th anniversary and is part way through a multi-million pound investment programme to modernise all its stores.
The Stenhousemuir store will be licensed and will operate a "Think 25" policy which means that anyone who does not clearly look over 25 years old will be asked for identification when buying age restricted products such as alcohol and tobacco.
Scotmid is one of Scotland's biggest retailers with around 130 stores and over 4000 employees throughout Scotland. It also owns Semichem, the discount health and beauty chain.
