Ethical Procurement
The majority of the Society purchases are through the Co-operative Retail Trading Group (CRTG) and therefore we continue to benefit from their purchasing policies. CRTG is committed to the principles of sound sourcing, animal welfare, food integrity and health and ecological sustainability.
During the year we have incorporated procurement conditions into staff uniform contracts and other expense contracts with external providers.
Investment In The Community
A total of £119,000 (2005/2006 - £113,000) was spent on investment in both community and co-operative initiatives, amounting to 104% of our pre-tax profit. Examples of projects benefiting from our investment in the community are provided in the Directors' report.
