Ethical Procurement
The majority of the Society's purchases are through the Co-operative Retail Trading Group (CRTG) and therefore we continue to benefit from their purchasing policies. CRTG is committed to the principles of sound sourcing, animal welfare, food integrity and health and ecological sustainability.

Investment in Community & Co-operative Initiatives
A total of £222,000 (2007/08 - £185,000) was spent on investment in both community and co-operative initiatives, amounting to 2.4% of our pre-tax profit. Examples of projects benefiting from our investment in the community are provided in the Community & Charity section of this website.
The Society's nominated charity for the last eighteen months was Marie Curie. Several fundraising events by Scotmid's staff and members helped raise a total of over £190,000 for the cancer care charity.
