Scotmid's Bonnybridge Store Opens After £500,000 Refit

Scotmid, the largest independent co-operative in Scotland, today reopened the doors to its Bonnybridge store after a £500,000 transformation.
The modernisation of the store is part of a large scale refurbishment programme being carried out by the Scotmid Co-operative Society to modernise all its stores across Scotland.
Anna Marshall the former Chief Executive of the Bonnybridge Co-operative Society until it merged with Scotmid in 1996 was on hand to cut the ribbon and welcome the first customers to the store. She commented, "I would like to congratulate the Directors of Scotmid on their success over the past 13 years since the amalgamation of Bonnybridge Co-op and Scotmid. They have spent thousands of pounds upgrading the four Scotmid stores in the area to a very high standard.
I also appreciate the fact that they have given employment to many young people in the village and that they still retain some of the employees from the former Bonnybridge Co-op. I wish Scotmid and their staff every success."
Stewart Wilson, Store Manager, said: "Scotmid prides itself on being a vital part of the local community and we look forward to serving our Bonnybridge customers from our remodelled store with an excellent product range and some great deals."
The refurbished store incorporates more space for fresh and chilled foods, a new chilled section for beers and wines, an improved range of groceries and a new layout.
Scotmid takes its responsibility to the community very seriously and will continue to operate its ‘Think 25’ policy in the Bonnybridge store. This means that anyone who does not clearly look over 25 years old will be asked for identification when buying age restricted products such as alcohol and tobacco.
The Scotmid store is at 19 High Street, Bonnybridge.
