Employee of the year 2007

Fraser Purvis of our Nicholson St, Edinburgh store won the Scottish Grocer magazine award for Employee of the Year. He is pictured here receiving his reward from Mac Mackie, Managing Director of Mackies Ice cream.

Fraser has worked with Scotmid for 9 years, and during that time he has progressed from bakery assistant to store manager. He has been in his current role for three years, during which time he has improved the stores sales and profitability in the face of very stiff local competition.

Fraser was recognised for having a dedicated and enthusiastic approach to work, continually striving to achieve more, with his natural style and encouragement making him a real support to his line manager and colleagues. The judges of the award were particularly impressed with Fraser's understanding of his local market and support for his staff.

Laurencekirk store 'Highly Commended' Best Convenience Store

The Scottish Grocer judges noted this store as being bright fresh and modern, both inside and out. The store makes good use of its space to the benefit of its customers, with layout and promotions showing an awareness of exactly what the store's customers are looking for.

The store was noted as having an evident and commendable 'customer comes first' attitude and clearly identifying the needs of disabled and parent and child shoppers apparent both inside and out.

Wiseman Awards - Carluke Takes Gold

The staff of Scotmid, Carluke were celebrating after winning a Gold Award at this year?s Robert Wiseman Dairies Neighbourhood Shop of The Year Awards, which recognises excellence across the convenience retail sector.

The accolade was awarded at a glittering national awards ceremony at Fairmont, St Andrews in Fife that was attended by the cream of the retail community. Stores from all over the UK were honoured at the ceremony, but it was Scotmid who excelled in the Gold Award category. The shop also scooped a gong in the Excellence in Store Management category to make it a very successful evening for the Carluke store.
